NIMS SUPPORTS ISTMA GLOBAL SKILLS COMPETENCY STANDARDS AND BECOMES GLOBAL PARTNER

ISTMA Global Skills Competency Standards program is currently being prepared with support from NIMS – National Institute for Metalworking Skills (www.nims-skills.org) - aiming to create a methodology to support member countries in capacity building, creating uniformity and harmonization on education quality standards, integrating and sharing country-based innovation for the benefit of industry.

Formed in 1995 in USA, NIMS has extended its activity internationally over the years setting industry skills standards, certifying individual skills, accrediting training programs that meet quality requirements and promotes innovative solutions, such as competency-based apprenticeship, to connect credentialed and work-ready individuals with employers.

NIMS mission is to provide world-class, industry-developed and validated, competency-based skill standards, credentials, and training frameworks that enable collaboration between educators, manufacturers, policy makers, and community-based organizations in a joint effort to increase the skills of the manufacturing workforce.

Joining ISTMA Global Partners program, NIMS strengthens its worldwide network and brings new competences to ISTMA community. Agreement was signed for a two years period – 2019 and 2020.
