16TH ISTMA WORLD CONFERENCE & GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN CAPE TOWN

The challenges, priorities and constraints of the toolmaking industry were discussed during the 16th ISTMA World Conference that took place in Cape Town (South Africa) between 6 and 10 November. Representatives from global tooling houses and associated industries, industry leaders, and business people from 17 countries shared knowledge and networked during these days.

Innovation, R&D, sustainability, technologies and new business models, markets and cooperation were some of the main topics under discussion at the meeting that gathered the ISTMA community.

ISTMA World also hosted its General Assembly and elected its President and Board of Directors for the 2023-26 mandate. 

Bob Williamson, from South Africa, was re-elected President. The new Board of Directors includes representatives from each region: Markus Heseding (VDMA/Germany), President of ISTMA Europe, Eduardo Medrano (AMMMT/Mexico), Chairman of ISTMA Americas, Ryan Huang (CDMIA/China), representing Asian countries and Tapiwa Samanga (PtSA/South Africa), representing African countries. The Board is completed with Fausto Romagnani (UCISAP/Italy) as Past President. 

During this period the ISTMA Secretariat remains in Portugal, led by CEFAMOL, and headed by Manuel Oliveira.

ISTMA also welcomed two new members from Africa: Zambia Association of Manufacturers and Zimbabwe Tool & Die Association.
