Finnish tools manufacturers mainly produce moulds for the plastic industry, and different kinds of punches, clamps, blades and fasteners for the metal industry.
In Finland, focus has been successfully placed on small and medium moulds. The maintenance and repair of tools, especially moulds, is becoming an increasingly significant service. Maintenance also plays a key role for companies which manufacture tools for their own use.
In Finland, tools manufacturing constitutes an industry sector amounting to approximately EUR 130 million. In 2007, about 15 per cent of this amount was exported, but tools import accounted for EUR 50 million.
Many Finnish tools manufacturers have started as a designated tools department of a large company, and then become a subcontractor and service provider for other operators in the industry, too. In addition, the industry’s own tools departments still play a key role in the sustaining of competence.
Finnish Special Tools’ advantages, in addition to excellent expertise, include good cooperative skills, quality and reliable deliveries. Costumers also benefit from the advantages of cooperation and local operations.
