Joensuu is a university town and the lively capital of the North Karelia region

and the Orthodox religion still survive in the region.
On the guided tour you will visit Carelicum, a cultural centre and museum of
local history, and Joensuu art museum, where you can take a closer look at the
history of Joensuu and the way of traditional Finnish life. Later you can admire
the Orthodox and Lutheran churches of the town which represent the border of
eastern and western culture. Furthermore, our tour will stop to visit the Botanic
Garden, the Finnish Forest Research Institute and the Joensuu Areena, a multipurpose
hall, the largest wooden building in Finland. At the end of the tour you visit
the handicraft centre and enjoy the lunch from the buffet table in the Restaurant
Teatteri-ravintola.

region of eastern Finland. The monastery maintains close connections with the
society around it and supports itself chiefly through tourism. It receives more
than 100,000 visitors a year. The group will have a guided tour of the monastery
and learn about its history and present. Lunch will be served at the monastery's
