A FUNDAMENTAL TOOL FOR THE INTERNATIONAL TOOLING BUSINESS
Globalization of markets requires the introduction of uniform terms for standard parts. ISTMA has developed specialized dictionaries to help overcome the language barriers.
This new online and interactive technical dictionary, web based, is an invaluable tool for companies operating in the global market. It includes:

A NEW REVISION OF A SUCESSFUL EDITION, COMBINING WESTERN AND ASIAN DICTIONARIES AND CLASSIFICATIONS OF PARTS
The success of the 3rd edition of TERMINOLOGY book, published in 1997, has been an incentive to review and to expand the concept. That printed edition of the western dictionary has been organized by a group of experts from Germany, France and USA under the ISTMA Standardization Committee, headed by Jean Louis Rabourdin, and with strong support of Hasco-Normalien (Germany).
Now ISTMA is announcing a new web based terminology service covering now both the new Western dictionary (revised and expanded) and also the extended Asian dictionary.
The new Western terminology has been revised by an expert (Mr. Holger Lange), again with the support of Hasco. It includes 11 languages (including a new one: Polish language has been added). Addtional european languages are under preparation now and will be added in the future.
The Asian terminology is based on a similar effort developed by ISTMA Asia / Fadma, with translations available in chinese, japonese and english (both UK and USA). Korean language has now been added and it is already available. Other asian languages will be added in the future.
A NEW, WEB BASED APPROACH: EASIER AND MORE POWERFUL ACCESS
This new ISTMA web service joins both efforts. Parts identified as common between both sets are available in 14 languages: all the eleven western languages and all the three asian ones (chinese, japonese and korean).
The service is now available as a web based service and not as a printed book. This allows for additional flexibility in new updates, including both new parts and new languages and continuous improvements, and also for new funcionalities (like search and browsing). Registered users of the service have also access to printing functions of parts and lists of parts and they can print the information they may need.
