ISTMA Statistics
ISTMA publishes regularly data collected from the national associations and affiliated companies about the industry.
ISTMA Annual Statistics Report

The Annual Statistics Report is published during the first quarter of every year by ISTMA Secretariat, based on data collected at the company level in the last quarter of the previous year by the ISTMA national associations through structured data collection procedures on a voluntary company basis.

All the full reports are available free for all the members of ISTMA national associations. ISTMA statistics are only released for public use two years after their publication date:
The full Annual Statistics Report consists of three main chapters of data:
- ISTMA Business statistics for the (previous) year, based on official national statistics of each country, as reported by the national associations, including at the country level (in value units)
- Turnover (sales)
- Exports
- Imports
- ISTMA business figures and ratios for the (previous) year, including at the country level (ISTMA definitions for the business figures and ratios: )
- Turnover and value added:
- Turnover (sales) per employee
- Value added per employee, in value and as percentage of the turnover (sales), as well as per hour worked
- Productivity
- Operating performance per employee and per hour worked
- Turnover (sales) per hour worked
- Manufacturing and outsourcing:
- Factory costs as percentage of turnover (sales)
- Standard parts for tools purchased outside as percentage of turnover (sales)
- Value of subcontracting as percentage of turnover (sales)
- Human resources:
- Total personnel costs as percentage of turnover (sales)
- Additional benefits and special compensation as % of wages and salaries
- Hours per year for full time employees: normal hours and working hours
- Profit:
- Profit as percentage of the turnover (sales)
- Operating profit as percentage of the turnover (sales)
- Capex:
- Investment in machinery and equipment as percentage of the turnover (sales)
- Liquidity:
- ISTMA wage and salaries, includes the maximum, minimum and average wages per hour, in value, at the country level, as of May the previous year, for the following categories:
- skilled mouldmaker
- skilled tool and die maker
- skilled designer
- machine operator / programmer
- machine loader / unloader
- foreman
The ISTMA Annual Statistics Report includes also summary descriptive data of the participating companies in each country: - Number of participating companies and type of primary production - Number of participating companies buying different type of services from outside suppliers - Number of employees of the participating companies
