2008 MEMBERS ASSEMBLY: TASA, the South
Africa association, has confirmed that they will host the 2008 ISTMA Annual
Assembly, next 29th June / 2nd July, in Johannesburg. More details will
be announced soon, but preliminary program includes: welcome dinner (29th
June, sunday), regional meetings and annual assembly on the first day
(30th June), a seminar / workshop about South Africa tooling industry
in the second day (1st July), visits to automotive cluster companies in
Silverton and Rosslyn in the third day (2nd July). An optional program
for the remaining days of the week includes a visit to Kruger National
Park, for those interested to profit of the opportunity to explore the
Africa environment. This is the first ISTMA meeting in an African country.

Next ISTMA newsletter expected to be released during
April 2008, and it will include more details about the 2008 ISTMA Annual
Assembly. Comments and feedback welcomed.

ISTMA TERMINOLOGY webservice now includes
new functionalities to search parts through browsing the graphical data
base, with no need to know of the name of the part (total or partial).
Subscribers of the service are also able to print copies of configurable
collections of parts and components (eventually the full collection).

2008 NTMA CONVENTION was held in St. Petersburg (USA),
last February. NTMA has made the most important presentations available
through the Conference Hall in ISTMA website. ISTMA general manager has
addressed the convention and presented an updated view of the world tooling
industry and current trends and challenges. His presentation is also available
in the Conference Hall (only for members).
ISTMA WEBSITE “eSHOP” will
be fully operational very soon. Testing trials are now under way. Publications
from affiliated associations will be available for selling through internet
and distributed in digital formats. First products to be available are
training materials from NTMA (USA).
Statistics: call for 2007 data. A call
for each country data relative to 2007 is under way. Each national association
is expected to contribute with data about national production and trade,
about wages and salaries and also to collect the annual companies survey.
Results expected to be available for next 2008 Annual Assembly. Meanwhile
German data for 2005-6 has been added to 2005-6 report and updated in
the historical time series. Historical time series for Switzerland are
also now available.
ISTMA BUSINESS CONDITIONS: second semester
2007 reports. ISTMA Americas has released the 2H2007
report (available in business conditions, members only section of ISTMA
website). Update to historical time series and graphs under construction,
available soon. Please check.
Europe reports expected to be released during March, both in traditional
format and new format (historical time series and graphs). Meanwhile German
and Italy data for 1st half 2007 has been added and historical time series
have been updated. See Business conditions option, member’s only
section.
Regional branches meetings:
- ISTMA Americas has met last February, in St Petersburg
(Florida, USA). Work has begun on the program for next ISTMA World Conference,
to be held in Windsor (Canada) during 2010, to be hosted by Americas regional
branch. Reports for the meeting have been posted in ISTMA website (regional
branches, members only)
- ISTMA Asia / Fadma will meet in Shangai (China), next
11th to 13th May 2008, along with "China Die and Mould" exhibition
(12-16 May), promoted by CDMIA
(www.diemouldchina.com).
- ISTMA Europe will
meet in Zurich (Switzerland), next 20th to 22th April 2008.
