Message from ISTMA secretariat: We welcome our first
ISTMA Global Partner: Uddeholm (http://www.uddeholm.com).
The contract was signed in Lisbon, during last ISTMA Europe meeting. As
expected ISTMA events in Joeensuu (Finland) have been important. World
Conference was very successful. New statutes were approved, new members
were accepted and a new President and new members for the Board of Directors
were elected. The new BoD already had its first meeting (in India).
Next ISTMA newsletter expected to be released end of December 2007. Comments
and feedback welcomed.
2008 MEMBERS ASSEMBLY: Date and place to be announced
until end of this year.
NEW INSTITUTIONAL PRESENTATION available in ISTMA website:
updated and extended version of ISTMA institutional presentation (24 slides).
Pdf and .pps versions are available in the top of “About ISTMA”
page. A .ppt version, suitable for changes and adaptations, is available
in the associations only section of the website.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS met in Bangalore (India) last 30th
October. Minutes and documents are available in the members only section
of ISTMA website. BoD meeting was followed by a seminar organized by TAGMA.

EUROPEAN TOOLING FORUM in Lisbon: ISTMA Europe organized
a very important get together of European companies, national and EU community
policy and decision makers, R&D and innovation institutions in order
to discuss the competitiveness and strategic importance of the European
tooling industry. The meetings has been held in Lisbon, last 14th of September,
and more than two hundred people have registered for the event, from 21
different countries (3 non European). This meeting followed the regular
ISTMA Europe regional meeting, held in the previous day. More information

ISTMA MEMBERS ASSEMBLY met
in Joenssu (Finland) last 10th June. Seventeen national associations have
been present and approved the new statutes for ISTMA and unanimously elected
a new Board of Directors. Joaquim Menezes (from Europe) was elected new
President of ISTMA for 2007 – 2010. Together with N. Reguraj (from
Asia) and Eggon Jaeggin (from Americas) they are the elected members of
new Board of Directors. The presidents of the three regional branches
are the remaining members of the Board. J Menezes succeeds Jean Louis
Rabourdin, to whom all the members thanked for the contribution of his
mandate. The Assembly also accepted four new memberships, after the previous
endorsement by the Executive Committee of the applications from Turkey
and Latvia (from Europe), as well as Indonesia (from Asia), and the confirmation
of Pakistan (from Asia). Previously the Executive Committee has met in
order to prepare the Assembly (minutes and documents available in the
members only section of ISTMA web site).
2007 ISTMA World Conference held in Joensuu (Finland),
last 11th to 14th June, has been very successful. Around 200 people from
27 different countries attended a rich program of technical and business
presentations by experts from all the world, and a very attractive program
of visits. Papers and presentations are available in www.imtec.net/istma/materials.
Participants can have free access through login / password mailed to all
registered participants. If you have been a registered participant and
you did not receive that information, please ask it from istma2007@congrex.fi.
The Proceedings of the Conference will be available soon as a book to
be sold through our website. Next 2010 World Conference will be held in
Ontario under organization of CTMA, the Canadian association.
Hanser Verlag possible publisher for ISTMA Terminology book:
Discussions are under way between ISTMA and Hanser Verlag (www.hanser.de)
for the publication of a book based on the new ISTMA Terminology webservice.
A deal is expected to be closed until end of year. A beta release of this
new webservice has been announced during Joenssuu (Finland) meetings,
and it is now available for subscription from ISTMA website.
First semester 2007 Business Conditions reports: both
Europe and Americas reports have been released and posted, both in traditional
format and new format (historical time series and graphs). See Business
conditions option, member’s only section.
Regional branches meetings:
- ISTMA Americas will meet next 5th February, in St Petersburg
(Florida, USA), together with NTMA Convention. ISTMA general manager has
been invited to address the NTMA meeting.
- ISTMA Asia / Fadma will meet in Shangai (China), next 11th
to 13th May 2008
- ISTMA Europe met last 13th September in Lisbon (Portugal).
