EUROPEAN TOOLING FORUM (LISBON)

ISTMA Europe organized a very important get together of European companies, national and EU community policy and decision makers, R&D and innovation institutions in order to discuss the competitiveness and strategic importance of the European tooling industry. The meetings has been held in Lisbon, last 14th of September and it contributes to the reinforcement of the image of the tooling industry in the policy making circles of Europe governance. More than two hundred people have registered for the event, from 21 different countries (3 non European).

DaimlerChrysler (Germany), Fiskars (Finland) and Gorenje (Slovenia), together with Simoldes (Portugal) and Avenue Mould Solutions (Ireland) were some of the innovative European companies contributing with presentations for the discussion of an integrated European policy towards tooling industries.
The meeting was opened by the Secretary of State for Industry and Innovation, from Portugal, in representation of the Ministry of the Economy and has been closed by the Ministry of Economy from Slovenia. The Presidency of EU is now held by Portugal, and Slovenia will be the next one .

ISTMA general manager has contributed with an analysis of the tooling industry dynamics and the european role in the world system, as well as the trends of the tooling business. Carlos Costa, vice president from European Investment Bank contributed with an analysis of the framework for financing business innovation in Europe, and Olavi Linden (from Finland) discussed the role of business innovation for sustained competiveness of European companies.
